Suicide: A Terrible Way to Die by jalen1021

It is said that every year about 1 million people commit suicide. That is about 1 death every 40 seconds. Suicide has increased in the last 45 years by 60 percent all around the world. Suicide is one of the 3 leading causes of death among people aged from 15 to 44. Suicide attempts are up to 20 times more frequent than going through with the suicide. Even though suicide rates have been the highest among elderly males, the rates are really increasing in the groups of young people today. Many suicidal situations start with mental disorders in Europe and in North America. In Asia, impulsiveness is a risk of suicide. Suicide can also come from psychological, social, biological, cultural, and environmental factors.

I just recently had an uncle who killed himself. I don’t know why he did it. My mom told me that he was going through a lot which probably had an effect on the suicide. He had decided to jump over into a dam in Virginia. My grandpa told me that my great uncle didn’t know how to swim. He had taken off his shoes and his shirt and jumped in the water. He was a very cool person. We both actually played the bass guitar. So that was one thing we had in common.

I think suicide is one of the most horrible ways to lose a family member. It gets you to think that that person didn’t feel loved or cared about. On the day of my great uncle’s funeral, the church was full of people. That showed that people did love and care for him. So I think that if people know that they are cared for, they wouldn’t do suicide or even attempt to think or do such a thing.
