No Regrets. by elvisisback95

Today is November 9, 2009. Twenty years ago, the East German  government gave the news the people of the German Democratic Republic had been waiting for. After over twenty-five years of waiting, they were going to see their family and friends separated from them by the Berlin Wall. The Wall had stopped any travel into the other territory, seperating brothers from sisters and parents from children. One day everything was normal, and the next families were split apart. These epople didn’t see it coming, and I’m sure they regretted every time they missed a chance to be with their loved ones. So how much do we really value our time together with family and friends?  You never know when your time with someone you love is up. When your best friend moves or when your grandfather dies, will you be ready? Love everyone you have in your life. Tell them how much they mean to you. You never know when that day will come, when the time is up. You don’t want to live in regret.

How do you feel about Cyber Bullying?

It was recently brought to my attention that Cyber Bullying is a serious, and sometimes deadly business. I never really knew what it meant…not by dictionary definition. I’ve been cyber bullied. I’ve had someone constantly try to bring me down, while I do the same to him or her. And believe me when I say, “It ain’t pretty!”

Until a few days ago, I had no idea how deeply these comments can penetrate into someone’s life. I had never known people actually care what others think of them. But that’s how I was raised, and thank God I was. If it had been different for me, it’s possible that I would be long gone by now. But there are some people who really die on the insides to be hurt that way.

After this problem was brought to my attention, I went straight to Google. I was astonished to see how often Cyber Bullying occurs. And even more surprised to see that people actually commit suicide over it. I was nearly brought to tears with each new story I read, and it really hurt me that this was a repeating thing. So…cyberbullying2_05

What’s the point? Why would someone go so far? I know I’ve done my fair share of mean gossip, or what ever you want to call it…smack talk. But how could someone ever be so full of pure hatred towards someone? PEOPLE HAVE FEELINGS! What about all the cardinal rules, like treat others the way you want to be treated, or if you don’t anything nice to say don’t say anything at all? You only get one life, and every breath you waste on the negative makes life just that much more like hell on Earth.

There are always going to be bullies. There will never be peace. There’s always going to be at least one person, who messes it up for the world. But you, if you can just hold it in…if you can just care– just a little– about something other than the DRAMA, then you could be doing someone a huge favor, them and yourself. I know it hurts, when someone says those bad things, but is it really worth saying goodbye to everything? Just because someone, who you obviously won’t be talking to in the years to come, has nothing better to do than bring you down?

And in case you haven’t realized, I’m completely against Cyber Bullying.

Are We All The Same? by lilwezzy

They say we are all created equal.  If so, why do people discriminate because of race?  Martin Luther King Jr. taught about how we all are equal. The only thing that is different is ourDNA and skin color, but that is besides the point.  So why aren’t we treated equally?  Like during interviews for jobs some people go by your race. So let’s learn to not judge by color but rather by what is on the inside.

What is History? by daughet

What is history? We talk about a vague factual ether, where things have happened and we need to learn them for fear of repeating them. Unfortunately, this is an unacceptable definition of what “his(her) story” really is.

Brazil's Victory in the World Cup Is this History? Something that changed the world?

Robot FutureIs this the history of our future? Being made right now?

PetroglyphsThis petroglyph is very old, does that make it history? Has it changed the world? Does it affect the way your or I live?

Holocaust Is this the only history that is important? Or . . .

college dedication is it just as important to know this man’s history, and the story behind this photo?

The question is posed again….what is history? Leave your ideas of what constitute’s history in the comments section. Please leave your name with your comment, too.

“Sometimes – History needs a push”

At the end of our lives, will the world be a better or different place because we existed?  Will history have moved one iota from anything that we have said and done?

While most of us will never be talked about in History textbooks, it is still possible to make a difference and “be the change you wish to see in the world.”  This blog will coincide with our history class and hopefully provide all of us with additional opportunities to stretch ourselves and change the world around us.
